Who We Help

Stress

men's health stress acupuncture

Long-term stress can cause the body to wear down and chronic disease can start to take hold.

Stress is a natural physical response to life. It affects 100% of us. It is how the brain and body respond to the outside influences. We all deal with stress in one way or another. It can be anything from sitting in traffic to a traumatic event.  Our body deal with it by putting out

When your body is responding to the stress it releases substances like adrenaline and cortisol.  This puts you in the sympathetic, “fight or flight” mode, which can be life saving in threatening environments but when you are so overloaded that you can’t switch this off, your body pays the price.  The parasympathetic nervous system, also known as “rest and digest” is turned off, imbalances begin.  You can no longer relax, you can no longer digest and absorb nutrients in your food, dampens the immune system and causes a major influx of inflammation just to name a few.

Signs of Stress:

  • Fatigue

  • Headaches

  • Digestive issues

  • Aches and pains in muscles and joints

  • Chest pain and rapid heart beat

  • Insomnia

  • Low libido

  • Depression/Anxiety

  • Memory issues

  • Irritablity and emotional volatility

  • Loss of appetite

  • Frequent colds and illness

  • ...and the list is endless

Acupuncture has been shown through modern research and thousands of years of study to successfully and rapidly treat the stress response.

Acupuncture releases endorphins. It activates the vagus nerve which is important for nervous system regulation. It is th communicator between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract, known as the “gut-brain axis”)
