Cutting Edge Specialty Labs

Specialty labs can be used to find:

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Absorption issues

  • Gut dysbiosis

  • Toxic exposure

  • Inflammatory markers

  • Hormone issues

  • Metabolic dysfunction

  • Genetic markers

Exploratory labs are used to find the true ROOT of your issues.  These are incredibly vital for those who keep coming up empty with what is actually wrong with them.

How are these labs different than what my Primary Physician offers?

The labs we run at The Medicine Tree focus on wellness.  They function to discover underlying issues before they become disease.  Traditional labs typically look for disease using specific markers as a diagnosis.  â€‹

We tend to attract the patients that say "I've been dealing with this for years but nobody knows whats wrong?!"  These comprehensive labs will reveal underlying issues that aren't found on traditional labs.

Why doesn't insurance cover these types of labs?

Insurance companies want a disease diagnosis to cover labs.  These labs are wellness focused, not disease focused.

How will I know what the results mean?

Dr. Roper will go over what your labs show.  She looks deeper into how the disease process began and will guide you in reversing it.  Targeting and customizing a plan for you.

What kind of guidance should I expect?

Dr. Roper and her team will come up with a customized plan that could involve chinese herbs, targeted supplementation and dietary and lifestyle changes needed.

Micronutrient

The only test that provides a comprehensive extracellular and intracellular assessment of the levels of the essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fatty acids and amino acids.

We will use the results of this test to target specific nutritional deficiencies through supplementation and diet.

Treatment involves a combination of Nutrition, Supplements and possibly custom IV hydration plan.

When your doctor runs a blood panel they are only seeing what is in the serum and not actually being absorbed into the cells.  You can be eating the healthiest of diets but it doesn't matter if you have poor absorption. This is even more likely if you take prescription medications. Symptoms you could see:

  • Fatigue

  • Depression/Anxiety

  • Unexplained pain in the body

  • Weight gain

  • Hormone imbalance

  • Infertility

  • Digestive issues

  • Autoimmune issues

GI Map

This test is a comprehensive stool test that will detect parasites, bacteria, fungus and other pathogenic imbalances in the gut.

The results of this test will allow us to narrow in on specific imbalances in the microbiome of the gut and address it with a individualized protocol.

Treatment involves Nutritonal guidance and a custom supplement protocol.

A standard stool test only looks as disease pathogens like giardia or salmonella.  You will not get an inside look at the good and bad bacteria of the gut and the actual state of your microbiome. Symptoms you could see:

  • Brain fog

  • Fatigue

  • Digestive issues, IBS, IBD

  • Acne or Psoriasis

  • Depression/Anxiety

  • Diabetes

  • weight issues

  • Thyroid

  • High blood pressure

Full Thyroid

To get a true picture of the thyroid it is important to not just look at TSH.  We need to know if the the thyroid hormone is being converted back to it's active form.

This lab will look at TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies.  The results of this test will allow us to REALLY know if there is imbalance.  Once this is know we can start to dig deeper into what the root cause is.

Thyroid issues are unfortunately on the rise right now. The good news is that they tend to be a secondary or tertiary issue and can be reversed.  If your thyroid panel wasn't comprehensive, imbalance could be missed. Some symptoms you could see:

  • Fatigue

  • Hair loss

  • Body aches and pains

  • Depression/Anxiety

  • Brain fog

  • weight issues

  • Fertility issues

  • Digestive issues
